LocalFamily ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you join our waitlist or use the LocalFamily app and website (the "Service"), in accordance with applicable laws. By using LocalFamily, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to run the Service:

Waitlist & account information: Your first name and last initial, email address, and building tower. If you use the app, we also collect your mobile phone number (used to verify you're a real resident) and your floor.
Your preferences: Answers you give us, such as which features you'd use and how you'd like sharing to work.
What you post in the app: Items, passes, or requests you list or respond to, and any feedback, reviews, or ratings you submit.
Basic technical data: Device type, app version, and error logs, used to keep the Service working.

2. How We Use Your Information

We intend to use your information to add you to the waitlist and let you know when the beta is ready; verify you're a resident of the building; connect you with neighbours who can help; send notifications about your account, requests, and listings; respond to your questions; and improve the Service based on your feedback. We do not intend to sell your personal information, and we do not intend to use it for advertising.

3. Information Sharing

With other residents: Your first name, last initial, and tower/floor may be visible to other verified residents. Your email and phone number are never shown publicly and may only be shared with another resident once you both agree to a specific exchange.
With service providers: We intend to use trusted providers such as Supabase (secure database hosting) and Twilio (to send verification texts) to operate the Service. They process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure Supabase servers. We intend to use encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls that limit who can see your information. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as you're on the waitlist or using the Service. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing hello@localfamily.app, and we'll do so within 30 days unless the law requires us to keep it.

6. Age Requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older to use LocalFamily. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

7. Notifications

We may email you (and, in the app, send push notifications) about the beta, your account, and activity relevant to you. You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll let you know of significant changes via email or the app.
